Commercial Recycling
At Island Waste Carriers (IWC), we are committed to promoting sustainable waste management practices in the Cayman Islands. Our comprehensive recycling services are designed to reduce landfill waste, conserve natural resources, and support environmental stewardship. We offer specialized recycling programs in partnership with local organizations to handle various types of recyclable materials.
Food Waste Recycling and Composting
In collaboration with Beacon Farms and Foster’s Supermarkets, IWC has initiated a food waste recycling and composting program aimed at transforming organic waste into valuable compost. This initiative focuses on collecting non-protein food waste, cardboard packaging, and pallets from Foster’s locations and transporting them to Beacon Farms’ composting facility. Since the program’s inception in August 2023, over 30,000 pounds of green waste have been diverted from landfills, contributing to local agriculture and soil health.

Benefits of Food Waste Recycling and Composting:
Reduces Landfill Waste
Diverting organic waste from landfills decreases methane emissions and extends landfill lifespan.
Enhances Soil Quality
Compost enriches soil, improving its structure, moisture retention, and nutrient content, leading to healthier plant growth.
Supports Local Agriculture
Locally produced compost reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, promoting sustainable farming practices in the Cayman Islands.
Glass Recycling Partnership
IWC has partnered with the Flowers Block Factory to implement a glass recycling program that repurposes glass waste into construction materials. Collected glass is processed and utilized in the manufacturing of concrete blocks, promoting a circular economy and reducing the demand for virgin raw materials.

Benefits of Glass Recycling
Conserves Natural Resources
Recycling glass reduces the need for raw materials like sand, limestone, and soda ash.
Energy Efficiency
Producing new glass products from recycled glass consumes less energy compared to using virgin materials.
Reduces Environmental Impact
Glass recycling minimizes the volume of waste in landfills and decreases greenhouse gas emissions associated with glass production.
Metal Recycling with Island Recycling
Through our sister company, Island Recycling, IWC offers comprehensive metal recycling services, including the collection and processing of aluminum cans, non-ferrous scrap metal, and ferrous scrap metal. We accept a wide range of metal items, such as appliances, construction debris, electronic waste, and vehicles, ensuring responsible recycling and disposal.
Benefits of Metal Recycling:
Conserves Resources
Recycling metals reduces the need for mining and processing raw materials, conserving natural resources and reducing environmental degradation.
Energy Savings
Recycling metal saves significant energy; for example, recycling aluminum saves up to 95% of the energy required to produce the same amount from raw materials.
Economic Benefits
Metal recycling supports local economies by creating jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries.
Aluminum Can Recycling

Long-standing commitment to sustainability
IWC has been actively involved in aluminum can recycling in the Cayman Islands for over 15 years.
